Internet Addiction: A Turned-on Psychiatric Disorder

“It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity”, as said by Albert Einstein. Day to day technology is exploring its new side angles which off course is utilised by one and all to lead a comfort life ahead.One such must being comfort is Internet, an online activity which provides the information and also helps in social networking, especially communicating with peers.Internet Addiction is creating a problematic add on in this present scenario, since The past decades have witnessed a dramatic increase in the number of youths using the Internet. As witnessed in early 90’s, this problem is now considered as a clinical/psychiatric disorder and also been treated by the doctors in places like China, Taiwan and Korea.Studies revealed that, the rate of Internet addiction was associated with communication styles, hours spent online, and friendship approaches but not age or gender.

Internet literacy among the adolescents who can locate, browse, and access different information resources increases the likelihood to get addicted to internet.This problem when brought in front of company, which solely depend on internet i.e whose bread and butter is internet, took an initiative to start a campaign to bring awareness about the negative usage and effects of using these in a negative way. So this means internet addiction, same as a drug is rapidly growing in such a way that it may affect ones behaviour Psychologically and at-times physically.One has to think about all these issues created by our own selves so that it won’t become much complicated further and finally doesn’t end to hit the sort of bottoms.
